City of Pittsburgh Internships!

City of Pittsburgh Internships

The Mayor’s office is now centralizing all internships within the City! Its goal is to host 100 students per semester beginning this summer – all for academic credit – spread among 20 departments!  It is also planning social and professional development opportunities for the interns to get to know one another in an effort to build a sense of commitment to our city’s future leadership.

To apply, students may go to www.pghjobs.net to submit a general application and resume.  The city will match students to departments based on experience and interest, then each respective department will conduct interviews.

UPMC Human Resources Internship/Externship

We are looking to recruit top talent to our Human Resources Externship Program!

This spring, UPMC has an exciting opportunity available for students pursuing a degree in Human Resources or a related field. As an HR Extern students will provide support as needed to the HR staff at several UPMC facilities and will learn the various aspects of an HR Department such as documentation in employee files and assisting with new hire orientation.

Position Information:

UPMC is currently accepting resumes for available spring externship positions within the Human Resources Departments at their Oakland, Shadyside, and Downtown locations. The HR Extern will work on a for-credit basis, from mid-January through mid-April 2015, in order to meet hours required for their degree. The schedule for this position is flexible, however 12-15 hours per week is preferred.

Required Qualifications:

Students must be currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree. Preferred majors include human resources, labor relations, communication, psychology, health management, marketing, business or a related field. A cumulative GPA of at least 3.00 is strongly preferred, and preference will be given to candidates that have demonstrated leadership ability through their studies, employment, or extracurricular activities.
